No ....... these are not witches hats on broomsticks, although some of the students came in through the door to class on their brooms !!!Today, the students of the 2006 Certificate Spinning class learnt how to dress their distaff (in this case, their broom taped to the side of their chair. On top of the distaff they placed a cone of cardboard and wrapped their flax onto the cone. They spun the flax dry and also wet.
Most of the students have never spun flax and they all managed extremely well and produced a very fine yarn.
